Maiden of Black Water was my first Fatal Frame (at the time of writing I've also finished Mask of the Lunar Eclipse) and the game managed to leave me a very good impression of the saga.
I liked everything about the game, from the story, setting, music to the ghost design.
The only downside to the game is that the combat gameplay tends to get repetitive very quickly (except with a few specific ghosts) and for a survival horror it's a bit too easy to get hold of healing items and "ammunitions".
Fatal Frame is an excellent example of survival horror that maintains the historical canons of the series without distorting the mechanics, transforming it into something too different as other horror sagas have.
