Another game from my childhood that is little known today.
Silver, was the European answer to oriental RPGs, a hybrid between a Japanese action RPG and the first games based on Dungeon and Dragons.
In Silver, a handful of rebel heroes team up to save their land from the tyrannical sorcerer Silver and his sons. Beautiful pre-rendered backgrounds with excellent 3D models and animations, a very fun combat system that varies depending on the characters in the party, excellent soundtrack and voice acting; in short, a complete package.
My only regret is never having managed to defeat the final boss, the game is based on reflexes to attack and parry and I never mastered these mechanics to the fullest so I was not able to win the final battle, during the game I mainly used the wizard and the archer.
One thing that I really enjoy about drawing these old games is the lack of concept-arts and having to decipher very rough 3D models, like in drawing Slave Zero I took a lot of creative license, for example some of the characters are a mashup of: promotional concept-arts, 3D models and in-game portraits.
I recommend this game to all lovers of old PC RPGs.
