When I bought the Silver Case collection a couple of years ago, I posted the photo on Instagram and a guy commented saying that he had just finished it and that the game was very strange but once finished it was something great that made you "unfuckable"; after finishing it last week I can confirm.
The only Suda51 games I had played before were the 4 of the No More Heroes series, which I personally adored, Suda and I have a very similar sense of humor and from what I see from his games we like the same things (Wrestling, Twin Peaks, Horror movies...) and also in Silver Case I found many points in common, especially with Tokio as I too am a turtles and carnivorous plants lover.
Suda51 and the guys at Grasshopper are very good at creating interesting characters, despite the game's outdated gameplay (as regards the non visual-novel sections) the story is never boring and the mystery around the Silver Case and Kamui is reminiscent of the best David Lynch.
I also love when an author creates an universe in which he connects his works and Suda does it in a brilliant and never banal or derivative way.
Furthermore, the music, the interface effects that change from chapter to chapter and the illustrator that changes depending on the protagonist are all fantastic details that create an incredible atmosphere for a game where 90% are dialogues.
I highly recommend these two games, despite some oddities in the gameplay choices, the story and characters are incredible and it's impossible not to fall in love with characters like Kusabi or Tokio. One day I will also play "Flower, Sun, and Rain" to see the part of the story that I miss, hoping for a remaster.
