Final Fantasy IX Heroes

I remember perfectly when my mother gave me FFIX during the Easter holidays, at the time I had played FFVIII and FFVII (without finishing it because the English was too complicated for me) and FFIX won me over with its Victorian atmosphere and its wonderful music.

Today the game is a little behind in my top of the FF titles, FFIX is a masterpiece but in my opinion some lacks in the plot and characters development bury the second part of the game.
Speaking as in the days of PS1, the story during the "first disc" is told perfectly and smoothly and several interesting characters are inserted; furthermore, the final part in Burmecia is a truly dramatic and emotional section.

unfortunately, in the "second disc" the story begins to lose its bite and seriousness, in the "third disc" the shift of the focus on Zidane and its origins make the plot less and less interesting in my opinion.
The fight with the final boss is a further disappointment.

But the biggest waste of FFIX, are the basckstories of Freya and Amarant, Freya is one of the most interesting female characters created by Squaresoft, but her narrative arc, in addition to being based on a very banal trope, is initially abandoned and then resolved by itself (???).
While Amarant, aside from having an attractive design, only has a couple of badass dialogue and an optional scene where he talks about a past event.

Furthermore, always in my opinion Zidane and Kuja are inferior to past characters who have had their role in the saga.

Despite this FFIX is a beautiful JRPG that I always play with pleasure.
